Improv Wall Hanging – “Branching Out”

Learn the technique to create whimsical improv trees that lend themselves to a whole forest of possibilities.

Supplies list:
” Sewing machine
” 1/4″ inch foot for piecing (optional)
” Quilting rulers – One longer for cutting background fabric from ¼ or ? yard pieces and one smaller (6″) for cutting branches
” Rotary cutter
” Cutting mat
” Pins & pin cushion
” Background fabric -¼-yard of 9 different fabrics OR from your fabric stash 9 pieces of fabric approximately 8×10 inches each
” Strips of fabric for tree branches and trunk:
Nine, one-inch strips of fabric – choose either 3 contrasting fabrics OR 9 contrasting fabrics for more variety. Each strip should be approximately 25-28 inches long.
” Batting (approx. 20×26)
” Fabric for backing (approx. 20×26) and ¼ yd. for facing
” Thread for piecing and quilting
