DESCRIPTION:Box Bottom and Bows Tote\nWe have all done it. We purchase 5” X 5” precut charm packs because\nwe just love the fabrics. Then\, they sit in our fabric bins and wait for us to bring them to\nlife. Don’t let them sit any longer! Let’s get those 5” X 5” precuts out of the fabric bin\nand make something! \nWhen: March 5th 2026\nTime: 10:30-3:30\nFee: $35.00\nSkill Level: Confident Beginner – you must know how to work your sewing machine; prepare and cut\nfabric \nSupplies list:\n● Box Bottom and Bows Tote pattern – Available at Blaines\n● Main Fabric (exterior front and back): (30) 5” x 5” squares\no ‘Charm Pack’ defined: A ‘charm pack’ has (42) 5” X 5” squares.\no OR – cut your own charm pack (30) 5” X 5” squares from scraps/yardage\n● Coordinating Solid or print fabric (bag bottom\, handles\, lining\, bows) 1 ¼ yard\no Note: If using a batik\, purchase an additional ½ yard if the width is not at least 40”\nof usable fabric.\n● Foam Stabilizer – NOT FUSIBLE\n● By Annie – Soft and Stable (available at Blaine”s). Available in precut packages.\nThe 18” x 58” will work.\n● Fusible Fleece: ¼ yard – Fusible on ONE side\no Fleece should be at least 20” wide\n● Sewing machine – test for proper working order before class\no ¼” foot\no Walking Foot\n● Neutral and/or coordinating thread (top stitching and quilting threads will be visible)\no At least (2) Full Bobbin(s) of the same thread color(s)\n● Scissors\n● Pins\no Straight pins\no LARGE safety pins (approximately 8 – 10 safety pins)\n● Fabric clips\n● Seam ripper\n● Fabric Marking tool – this will be used to draw the quilting lines on the exterior of the bag.\nTherefore\, it MUST be easily removed after stitching. Suggestion: chalk pencil or tailor’s\nchalk in a color that is easily seen on your fabric colors. ALWAYS test your marking tool\non a scrap of your fabric before using it on your project.\n● OPTIONAL: Best Press ® spray (Available at Blaine’s) Or your favorite fabric prep spray\n● Cutting mat and Rotary Cutter\n● Acrylic Ruler: 6” X 24\nPre-Class Preparation to be completed before class\n● Measure your squares and trim them to 5” square if needed – manufacturers will cut\nthese squares about an ⅛” larger than 5” square.\n● Arrange your 5” X 5” squares into any desired pattern of 3 ROWS of 5 squares each\n● Sew them using a ¼” seam allowance – alternate pressing seams to the left or right to\nfacilitate nesting when sewing rows together\n● Make TWO; This will produce two rectangle pieces of 15 squares each\nMake two rectangles of 3 rows of 5 squares (see store for diagram)
