SUMMARY:Log Cabin Christmas Wreath Wall Hanging
DESCRIPTION:The log cabin quilt block is a center square (typically red) with a frame of light fabrics and contrasting dark fabrics. It has been popular since the 1800’s. The blocks can be arranged in many ways and in different color schemes to create stunning designs for any occasion! In this pattern\, nine log cabin blocks are arranged using the lights and darks to make a ‘wreath’. You will learn how to make this quilt block using full strips of fabric and chain sewing.. This method eliminates cutting each strip within the block to size separately before sewing. It’s a great time saver!! \nInstructor: Pamela Pereira \nDate: Friday\, November 6\, 2026 \nTime: 10:30-3:30 \nFee: $35.00 \nSupplies Available at Blaine’s Sewing Machine Center – students get 20% discount on class\nsupplies\n● Center Square and Border: (1) ½ yard WOF cut of red or burgundy (should look like a solid)\n● Light background “log” fabrics: (3) ¼ yard WOF cuts of different whites or off-whites (avoid\nlarge patterns; strips will be 1 ½” wide.\n● Green fabrics:\n○ Green “logs”: (3) ¼ yard WOF cuts of different greens (avoid large patterns; strips will\nbe 1 ½” wide.\n○ Backing: 1 ¼ yards of one of your choice of fabric.\n● Lightweight batting: approximately 32” square – 8” larger if using a longarm for quilting.\n● See cutting Homework on Page 2\nTIP: When selecting fabric prints for the “logs”\, make the “OK” sign with your hand; place the “O” over the fabric\npattern. Does the fabric pattern show nicely in the “O”? If yes\, then the fabric pattern is a good fit for the “logs” in\nthis quilt block.\nSupplies\n* Sewing machine in good working order\n* ¼” presser foot\n* Neutral or coordinating thread\n* Fabric Scissors and Thread Snips\n* Pins and/or clips\n* Seam ripper\n* Acrylic Rulers: 6 ½” X 24” ruler; min 10” square ruler\n* Rotary cutter and mat**\nQuestions? 1440sewingstudio.com \n**A cutting mat is available in the classroom; however\, depending on class size\, it might be best to\nbring your own. \nHOMEWORK to be completed prior to the class.\nPlease have the following pressing and cutting completed prior to the class.\n1) Press all fabric PRIOR to cutting.
