DESCRIPTION:Summer is a busy time! Create a bag that will meet all the needs of a busy summer lifestyle. We’ll be making a modified version of a great pattern designed by Jenny of Sincerely\, Jen Patterns. The bag will be constructed with waterproof canvas – a durable fabric that is also domestic machine friendly. This will become your go-to-bag this summer and for seasons to come! \nInstructor: Heather Lee \nWhen: August 27th & September 3rd \nTime: Session 1 10:30- 1:30 Session 2 10:30-3:30 \nFee: $90.00 (+$50.00 to instructor for kit) \n  \n*SPECIAL NOTE: The fabric the sample was made with has become unavailable – a photo of the replacement is included\nClass one will be for cutting out the pattern and making the strap\nClass two will be for bag construction \nSupplies list:\n• Kit – $50.00 (payable to the instructor before class)\n• Pattern – included in kit – you will receive a code to download the pattern at no charge – please download and print the pattern before class\n• Heavy duty thread – available at Blaine’s (please don’t substitute without asking instructor)\n• All purpose thread to match the heavy-duty thread\n• Needles – size 100 topstitch\n• Sewing machine in good working order\n• A narrow foot for your machine (a zipper foot may also work – check with instructor)\n• Wonder clips – at least 25 (NO PINS!)\n• Sewing supplies – good scissors\, thread snips\, small ruler\, rotary cutter\, marking tool of your choice (chalk wheel or mechanical pencil works well)\n• Please wind 2 bobbins using the all purpose thread before class\n• Optional – pattern weights

DESCRIPTION:Ryan’s Case for Smiles (https://caseforsmiles.org/) provides children facing life changing illnesses with whimsical pillowcases that give them an emotional boost and remind them they are not defined by their illnesses. This simple gift provides proven emotional benefits by offering distraction\, reducing stress\, and inspiring hope for children and their families. A small gesture can make a huge impact! \nJoin us at Blaine’s on Saturday September 26\, from 12:00–3:00 p.m. as we sew pillowcases for these young patients. \nPlease bring your sewing machine or serger\, along with scissors\, pins\, and any other basic sewing supplies. We’ll demonstrate several methods for finishing the pillowcases\, and all pillowcase kits will be provided. \nA suggested cash donation of $10 (or $5\, if preferred) to benefit Ryan’s Case for Smiles would be greatly appreciated but not required.
